10/18/1951 Missouri enters the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for an overhaul and upkeep period. Captain John Sylvester relieved Captain G. C. Wright as Commanding Officer.
10/19/1951 President Truman formally ends war with Germany.
2/29/1952 Missouri alternately under way for various exercises and anchored at Guantanamo Bay.
4/28/1952 War with Japan officially ended as a treaty that had been signed by the United States and 47 other nations took effect.
